About This Tour
The Naro Moru–Naro Moru route is one of the shortest and most direct trekking routes to Point Lenana (4,985 m). It is a demanding route, particularly because of the steep Vertical Bog section between Met Station and the upper moorlands.

Expand allCollapse allDay 1: Nairobi – Naro Moru Gate – Met Station
Departure from Nairobi: Around 6:00–7:00 AM
Drive from Nairobi to Naro Moru, then continue to the Naro Moru Park Gate for registration and preparations.
Begin hiking through the beautiful montane forest, passing bamboo and giant heather before reaching the high-altitude moorland.
Continue to Meteorological Station (Met Station) at approximately 3,050 m, where you have dinner and spend the night.

Day 2: Met Station – Vertical Bog – Mackinder's Camp
After breakfast, begin the climb toward the upper mountain.
The trail soon enters the Vertical Bog, a steep and often wet section that can be particularly challenging after rainfall. Trekking poles and waterproof footwear are useful here.
Continue through the alpine moorland into Teleki Valley, with spectacular views toward Batian and Nelion.
Arrive at Mackinder's Camp, around 4,200 m.

- Hiking time: 5–6 hours
- Elevation gain: ~1,150–1,200 m
- Overnight: Mackinder's Camp

The rapid altitude gain makes this an important day for pacing and hydration.
Day 3: Mackinder's Camp – Point Lenana – Mackinder's – Met Station
Wake-up: Around 2:00–3:00 AM
Have a light breakfast and start the summit attempt in darkness.
Climb across the alpine zone toward Point Lenana (4,985 m). The ascent normally takes around 3–4 hours, depending on the group and conditions.
Aim to reach the summit around sunrise.
After enjoying the summit, descend back to Mackinder's Camp for breakfast and a short rest.
Continue descending through Teleki Valley and the Vertical Bog toward Met Station, where you spend your final night on the mountain.

This is the hardest day of the itinerary because it combines the summit ascent with a long descent.
Day 4: Met Station – Naro Moru Gate – Nairobi
After breakfast, begin the descent through the montane forest.
Follow the Naro Moru trail back to the Naro Moru Park Gate, where your vehicle will be waiting.
Continue to Naro Moru town for lunch before driving back to Nairobi.
