Mount Rwenzori Climbing Gear Checklist

Mount Rwenzori is a wet, cold and challenging high-altitude mountain. Climbers should be prepared for heavy rain, mud, boggy terrain, cold temperatures, snow and glacier conditions on the higher peaks.

Rwenzori is extremely wet in places, so waterproofing your clothing and sleeping equipment is particularly important.

🌧️ Rwenzori-Specific Advice

The biggest mistake on the Rwenzori is underestimating the rain. Pack waterproof clothing and protect everything inside your backpack with dry bags. Expect muddy trails, wet vegetation, boggy sections and rapidly changing weather.

For a Margherita Peak expedition, I would use a more detailed technical summit gear list than the standard trekking list above.
